Steve Rogers Memorial Trophy

What is the Steve Rogers Trophy? - The Sharks and Manly will play for the Steve Rogers Trophy when the two clubs meet in the NRL premiership each season. Sharks chief executive Greg Pierce, who took over from Rogers after his death at age 51 in 2006, said the Sharks would always play the Manly game in the 1970s jersey made famous by Rogers as the dashing No.3 in the centres. "It was either going to be St George-Illawarra or Manly as the logical choices for this trophy and, frankly, Manly jumped at the chance," Pierce said. "They were very receptive to the idea and Steve had a lot of friends at Manly like Bozo (Bob Fulton), Max Krilich and Paul McCabe because they played with him in the Kangaroos (Australia)."
