Reconciliation Cup

The NRL will partner Reconciliation Australia, the Bulldogs and the Cowboys in celebrating the May 2007 40th anniversary of the 1967 referendum that brought all Australians together. The referendum saw 90.77% of voters say YES that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Australians should be counted in the national census of the population, leading to indigenous Australians securing the recognition that was so long overdue.

The Bulldogs and the Cowboys will mark the anniversary by playing for the Reconciliation Cup with a view to making it an annual event. The match will also present an opportunity to celebrate the tremendous contribution of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders to the game of rugby league.
